Justin Jefferson puts Vikings on notice via Instagram: His payday is coming
By John Buhler
Justin Jefferson made it be known that he will get paid, whether or not that is from the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson wants someone to show him the money.
Two years removed from starring for LSU, the Vikings’ former first-round pick is a two-time Pro Bowler with a career 196 receptions for 3,016 yards and 17 touchdowns in Minnesota uniform. While he still has two years left on his rookie deal, as well as a fifth-year option, Jefferson made it a point to say that his payday is coming on his latest Instagram post. Year three will be a big year.
What are the chances Jefferson sticks with the Vikings long-term once he finally hits free agency in presumably three offseasons?

Ultimately, time is on the Vikings’ side to get a long-term deal done with Jefferson. He is under contract for two more seasons with a fifth-year option almost certainly coming after that. Given that he has been essentially a top-three wide receiver in his first two NFL seasons, why not pay the man? Unfortunately, the Vikings have a bad history of seeing star wide receivers skip town.
From Randy Moss to Percy Harvin to Stefon Diggs most recently, the Wilfs need to find a way to buck the trend to not let their superstar wide receiver spend any second of his prime playing for anyone else. The good news is the Vikings will have a new head coach and general manager entering his third year out of LSU. The bad news is Kirk Cousins is still the Vikings quarterback.
How Jefferson’s third year with the Vikings shakes out will go a long way towards him staying put.
