The Cincinnati Bengals could make history on Saturday if they take care of business vs. the Tennessee Titans.

Fresh off their first playoff win since 1990, the Cincinnati Bengals are one win away from getting back to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1988 NFL season.

Blessed with one of the best offenses in the league, Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Zac Taylor and the rest of the Bengals have a tall task ahead of them in the divisional round. They must beat the top-seeded Tennessee Titans in Nashville to reach the conference title bout. Now that the Bengals have gotten that dreaded playoff victory monkey off their back, can they win this one on the road?

Unbelievably, the Bengals have never won a road playoff game in their franchise’s history dating back to being an AFL expansion franchise in 1968.

When was the last time the Cincinnati Bengals won a road playoff game?

While most people know that the Bengals are one of 12 NFL teams that have never won a Super Bowl, one would think they would have won a road playoff game at some point, right? Well, this is only the 15th time they have made the playoffs in franchise history. This is the first time Taylor has led the Bengals to the postseason. Keep in mind that Marvin Lewis went 0-7 in the playoffs.

You have to go back to the days of Sam Wyche, Forrest Gregg and Paul Brown before that to see if a road playoff win even exists for the Bengals. The two times the Bengals won the AFC in the 1980s, they had home-field advantage. Prior to the Lewis era, the Bengals only played in four road playoff games. In 1975, Ken Anderson nearly beat the then-Oakland Raiders, losing by only three.

The great news for the Bengals is if they beat the Titans in Nashville on Saturday evening, they will be playing in their third AFC Championship in franchise history. Cincinnati has never lost a conference title bout before.
