The NFL fined Tyreek Hill for celebrating a Kansas City Chiefs touchdown because of course, they did…

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill now has to pay a five-figure fine for using a cheerleader’s pom-poms to celebrate a touchdown.

In the Chiefs’ thorough evisceration of the Pittsburgh Steelers last week on Super Wild Card Weekend, Hill and the Kansas City offense hit pay dirt so many times that Arrowhead Stadium ran out of fireworks. So when Hill decided to go full-blown Terrell Owens with his celebration, it was only a matter of time before the NFL decided to go all Not Fun League and dish out a massive fine.

It’s not like Hill went Hingle McCringleberry on national television celebrating this touchdown.

Hill will see a $12,875 deduction from his bank account after this. The shame in it all is the NFL clearly double-dipped here. They used the touchdown video as a means to celebrate how cool, fun, hip and exciting the league is, only to fine Hill for afterwards. Something does not seem right. At least this money is going to charity, so it is not the end of world for Hill to be fined like this.

Ultimately, this is merely small potatoes for the two-time defending AFC champions. Anything short of a return to the Super Bowl will be seen as a massive disappointment for Chiefs Kingdom. Of course, they might have to play the AFC Championship Game on the road. If the top-seeded Tennessee Titans beat the Cincinnati Bengals, the Chiefs will have to venture to the Music City.

Here is to everyone at Arrowhead Stadium proudly brandishing their pom-poms on Sunday night.
