The Chicago Bears have made a decision on the team’s new head coach, with Matt Eberflus landing the job on Thursday.

After announcing the hire of Ryan Poles to replace Ryan Pace as the team’s new general manager earlier in the week, the Chicago Bears have now found the replacement for Matt Nagy.

According to Adam Schefter, the Bears have hired former Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and former Colts and Lions head coach Jim Caldwell were the other finalists for the job that went to Eberflus.

Bears fans are not pleased with Matt Eberflus being named the new head coach

For the Bears fans, they were long calling for Matt Nagy to get fired during the regular season. Now, it’s looking like they’re not too excited about Eberflus landing the position, as a quick search on Twitter shows how underwhelmed they are to have a new Matt.

That’s not the enthusiasm and excitement the organization was hoping to see from the fans after the hiring.

When Poles’ hire was made public, fans were somewhat optimistic about the new direction. After a long run with the Kansas City Chiefs, Poles really made a name for himself in NFL circles for his evaluation of the offensive line.

But having a new version of Ryan and Matt running the Bears has triggered Bears fans that despite the different last names, it’s going to be more of the same from the franchise that hasn’t won a Super Bowl since the 1985 season.

After taking Justin Fields in the first round of the NFL Draft last spring, fans were ready to believe in the organization again. Then, a rough 2021 broke hearts once again. It will be on Eberflus to lift the fans’ spirits again. It’s clear he’s got plenty of work to do in that department.
