Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was among the current crop of NFL players to react to Tom Brady’s retirement news.
Given Brady is Mahomes’ direct competition, albeit in the NFC, you’d have to think he’s a little relieved at the moment. Still, Mahomes’ mind is elsewhere for now, with the Cincinnati Bengals the only team in his way prior to another Super Bowl appearance.
Brady played in 22 NFL seasons, and will reportedly retire at age 44. He’s the greatest player to ever play the position, and there’s little doubt about that fact.
Mahomes paid his respect on social media after the news broke.

Tom Brady retires: NFL players react to news
Mahomes was just the first player to react to Brady’s retirement news, with more to come surely.
Former teammate and good friend Julian Edelman had a joke at Brady’s expense. Now, the two have more time to spend together than ever before.

Tom Brady has not informed the Bucs of his plans to retire. “No, he hasn’t that we know of,” Bruce Arians told me. “Agent (Donald Yee) just told us he hasn’t made up his mind.” https://t.co/1pb7AC4U45
Mahomes’ teammate, Tyreek Hill, also shouted out Brady.
