Jackson Mahomes, Brittany Matthews react to Chiefs’ heartbreaking loss
By John Buhler
Jackson Mahomes and Brittany Matthews were pure class reacting to the Kansas City Chiefs’ heartbreaking defeat in the AFC Championship Game to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jackson Mahomes and Brittany Matthews had classy tweets after the Kansas City Chiefs‘ season came to an end on Sunday evening.
After winning last week in dramatic fashion in overtime to the Buffalo Bills, the shoe was on the other foot for the Chiefs this time. Though they won the coin toss, Mahomes’ older brother and Matthews’ fiance threw a pick on the first drive of the extra frame. This resulted in a well-orchestrated drive for the Cincinnati Bengals, capped off by an Evan McPherson game-winner.
The Chiefs remain one of the better teams in the AFC going forward, but the upper crust is now pushing them. Look no further than the Bills going the distance with them last week and Cincinnati doing the unthinkable and upsetting the Chiefs at Arrowhead in overtime.

It will be another long offseason for the Chiefs, but this team is in far better situations than most, mostly because Patrick Mahomes is still very much in his prime as their superstar quarterback.

As the Chiefs have ascended to national prominence in recent years, these two have been social media lightning rods. Whether it is on TikTok or Twitter, Mahomes and Matthews have played a part in most people outside of Chiefs Kingdom not actively rooting for this team. Is Mahomes an elite talent? Anyone with eyes can tell you that, but winning with class has never been their forte.
If last season’s disaster in the Super Bowl was not humbling enough, the Chiefs just lost at home to a team that does not even have an indoor practice facility. The Bengals have fought and clawed for everything they have earned this season. It is something a lot of people can get behind. Maybe the Chiefs go back to the basics to figure out why they have come up short on the big stage again?
Props to Mahomes and Matthews for keeping it classy in defeat after the Chiefs lost a heartbreaker.
