As it turns out, the Miami Dolphins tried at the last minute to try and trade for the 2020 No. 1 overall pick so they could take Joe Burrow.

Oh, how different things could have been for the Miami Dolphins if things would have gone their way back in 2020. Believe it or not, Miami had its eyes on Joe Burrow ahead of the NFL Draft that year.

The Bengals had the No. 1 pick and of course went with star quarterback Joe Burrow. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Miami tried trading for that No. 1 pick so they could get Burrow. Per Rapoport, the Bengals quickly hung up the phone when the Dolphins came calling. Goodness.

The Dolphins wanted Joe Burrow but the Bengals gave them no chance

This really would have been something for Miami. While Tua Tagovailoa showed glimpses of strong play this past season, he’s simply been too inconsistent for Miami since joining the team as a first-round pick himself.

Per Rapoport, the Dolphins were ready to give the Bengals multiple first-rounders to move up to the No. 1 spot to land Burrow. Again, though, Cincinnati had its mind made up and nothing was going to stop them from drafting Burrow.

Now, the Bengals are ready to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Burrow has been spectacular this year and he has Bengals fans believing a Lombardi Trophy will make its way to Cincy in the near future.

As for the Dolphins, this team missed out on the playoffs and fired head coach Brian Flores this winter too. For everyone in Miami, they can only think about what could have been if Burrow would have made his way to south Florida instead of Ohio.
