Joe Burrow trolled the Alabama Crimson Tide with his comment at the podium after leading the Cincinnati Bengals to Super Bowl 56.

Joe Burrow may have beating the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead to get to the Super Bowl, but the former LSU Tigers quarterback still holds his road win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in higher regard.

In his second year quarterbacking the Cincinnati Bengals, Burrow has done what only Ken Anderson and Boomer Esiason had done before him: Lead this franchise to the Super Bowl. While Anderson and Esiason came up short vs. the San Francisco 49ers in the 1980s, Burrow has never been afraid of the big stage. He went 15-0 as LSU’s starter in 2019 and won at Bryant-Denny.

If Burrow can go into Tuscaloosa and hand the Crimson Tide an L, and then do the same thing to the Chiefs at Arrowhead two years later, he can beat Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 56 in two weeks.

While there are only a handful of losses in the Nick Saban era of Alabama football, the home loss to the 2019 LSU Tigers continues to bother the Crimson Tide fanbase. Alabama had Tua Tagovailoa as its star quarterback. That unexpected home loss was only exacerbated by a loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl. It was the only year Alabama failed to reach the College Football Playoff.

Though Alabama has been a far better program since Burrow left Baton Rouge, that win and that season in particular are a testament to his greatness. He helped Ed Orgeron be this decade’s Gene Chizik and carry him to a national title. In year two with the Bengals, he took Zac Taylor off the hot seat and made him more than just one of Sean McVay’s guys. Burrow is the epitome of special.

Burrow may have switched out his tiger stripes, but once a Bayou Bengal, always a Bayou Bengal.
