Caleb Williams reacts to USC legend Matt Leinart welcoming him to the Trojan Family.

With Caleb Williams transferring from Oklahoma to USC, he now has to live up to the quarterbacking legends before him, such as Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart.

The former Trojans star welcomed the former Sooners standout to the Trojan Family shortly after he announced where he was transferring. Williams played for new Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley for one year in Norman. With at least two more years left of college ball for him to be played, Williams hopes to return USC football to glory before he embarks on a promising NFL career.

USC has not been a championship-caliber program since Leinart last played quarterback for them.

For the first time in years, USC is no longer a dead program. Though the Trojans may not win the Pac-12 South in Riley and Williams’ first year in Los Angeles, they are expected to have the Pac-12 blue-blood back on top in short order. If they can give the divisional Utah Utes a game next year, it might be enough to propel them to a Pac-12 title berth for all the marbles over in sultry Las Vegas.

Though USC has to win on the gridiron for any of this to matter, there is a buzz about this program that is simply undeniable. If USC is good again, that means people on the West Coast will care about the world’s greatest sport once again. While winning and contending for Pac-12 championships is great and all, USC must be ready for the Big Ten beasts and SEC superpowers.

The Trojans officially have the QB1 heading into spring practice with Williams transferring to USC.
