College softball rankings: Oklahoma Sooners sit at No. 1 after national title

With the start of a new season, there’s a familiar face at the top of the preseason college softball rankings. The FanSided Top 25 isn’t the only poll putting the Sooners at No. 1 and it’s clear that Oklahoma could certainly be right back in Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series in just a few months.

The road to OKC probably runs through Norman once again. With the talent on Oklahoma’s roster, the Sooners should once again be considered as the top team going into the 2022 season. Will they have enough to win another national title? Yes, absolutely. Will Oklahoma win the Women’s College World Series once more?

There are several other teams that will be making strong surges and have their sights set on winning a title. Over in Stillwater, the Oklahoma State Cowgirls could be looking to make a push to get a championship. In Tuscaloosa, it’s worth keeping an eye on what the Alabama Crimson Tide are capable of.

But Oklahoma is good. Really good. Expect them to be a force to be reckoned with once again.
