After firing Maurice Drayton, the Packers could go with Rich Bisaccia to replace him as special teams coordinator.

Green Bay Packers fans got their wish when special teams coordinator Maurice Drayton was fired last month. Now, Matt LaFleur is looking for his replacement, with the team needing a big-time upgrade to improve the unit that cost them in the postseason.

Could former interim Las Vegas Raiders head coach Rich Bisaccia land the job?

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Matt LaFleur is in talks with Bisaccia about joining his staff as new special teams coordinator.

Rich Bisaccia in talks to become Green Bay’s special teams coordinator

Bisaccia is looking for a new job after he wasn’t retained by the Raiders. Bisaccia had interviewed to take over as head coach on a permanent basis, but Las Vegas gave the job to Josh McDaniels.

Bisaccia has more than 20 years of special teams coaching experience. The group was a total nightmare for Green Bay this past season, with things reaching a low point in the NFC Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers.

In that upset win for San Francisco, things were flipped upside down for the Packers after 49ers defensive end Jordan Willis flew by would-be blockers and blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown by Talanoa Hufanga to tie the game in the fourth quarter. San Francisco went on to win on a Robbie Gould field goal as time expired.

From the moment that game ended, people in Green Bay were calling for Drayton to get fired. LaFleur made that happen, and now those same fans are waiting to see who will replace him and Bisaccia would represent a significant upgrade.
