Joel Embiid’s soccer tweets stir up Ben Simmons-James Harden rumors
By Mark Powell
Joel Embiid’s tweetstorm is just starting with no end in sight. The 76ers star knows his influence, and he doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Embiid constantly throws shade at his opponents, whether on Instagram or Twitter, but he rarely does so to his own teammates. With the Ben Simmons drama potentially nearing a close at the trade deadline, every single one of Embiid’s tweets is being decoded, perhaps when it doesn’t have to be.
Simmons hasn’t shown yet this season, giving Daryl Morey little choice but to trade him. He has four years left on his contract, though, so the 76ers don’t want to trade him for chump change.
A Harden-for-Simmons swap, with other pieces involved of course, could solve the 76ers problem. They’d get another star for Simmons, and ship him somewhere he could contribute right away. Given their current losing streak, the Nets might be desperate enough to consider it.
Is Joel Embiid hinting at a giant, looming trade?
It’s far more likely that Embiid is playing with us, but let’s take a look:
Embiid followed that up with Hala Madrid, basically admitting he was only tweeting about Real Madrid in the first place.
Is anyone surprised? This man got us all riled up about AFCON just a few nights ago. It happens all the time. He has ‘Troel’ in his Twitter name.
It was fun while it lasted, though.
