Aaron Rodgers is the heavy favorite to win NFL MVP and the Packers quarterback (for now) seems to believe he has the award in the bag.

It’s been a truly surreal year for Aaron Rodgers, both for the good and bad. We all know about the latter case but the Green Bay Packers quarterback — at least as of now — went on the field in the regular season after winning NFL MVP last season and all but replicated that effort.

For all intents and purposes, it seems as if Rodgers is going to win the fourth NFL MVP award of his career. The hardware will be handed out on Thursday night at the annual NFL Honors show and will almost surely be made official for the Packers signal-caller.

He, however, isn’t about to wait until then. Rodgers appeared at the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open and was announced to the crowd as a three-time MVP. He promptly held up four fingers, indicating that the stated résumé was about to be out of date.

Aaron Rodgers believes he’s about to be four-time NFL MVP

Barring a massive surprise at NFL Honors, Rodgers is right in his assessment.

It was a 2021 NFL season in which every time it seemed like a potential MVP candidate was taking complete control of the race. The longtime Packers quarterback may not have shown the spikes in performance that his competitors and peers did, but his consistency and the success of Green Bay ultimately pushed him into the pole position in the race.

Now, wouldn’t it be crazy if a back-to-back reigning NFL MVP winner left the team this offseasn that he captured those awards with? Certainly. Then again, what about recent memory has been normal with Aaron Rodgers?
