The NBA has announced the full field for the 3-Point Contest during All-Star weekend and fans are sure to be fired up.

The high-flyers putting on a show during the Dunk Contest at the All-Star Game may make plenty of headlines, but don’t forget about the 3-Point Contest for a second. Each year, the competition provides loads of entertainment for NBA fans across the world.

Now, the 2022 edition is set to provide plenty of intrigue as well. The NBA officially announced the eight participants for this year’s tourney: Zach LaVine, Desmond Bane, Karl-Anthony Towns, Fred VanVleet, CJ McCollum, Luke Kennard, Patty Mills and Trae Young. Who will come out on top?

NBA fans are disappointed Stephen Curry won’t try and defend his 3-Point Contest crown

This is a loaded group of talented shooters for the 2022 3-Point Contest. At the same time, countless fans are a bit bummed that Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry won’t be featured later this month. Curry has participated in the 3-Point Contest seven times, winning it in 2015 and 2021.

People were also hoping that Klay Thompson would potentially take a stab at winning his second 3-Point Contest, but he’s not in the mix either. Despite those two skipping out on the event, LaVine, Bane, Towns, VanVleet, McCollum, Kennard, Mills and Young will be ready to dazzle the crowd.

It will be strange seeing McCollum compete in the 3-Point Contest in a different jersey, however, as he was traded on Tuesday by the Portland Trail Blazers to the New Orleans Pelicans. It marks the end of an era in the Pacific Northwest for McCollum, but he’ll now hope to bring home a title for his new supporters in New Orleans to enjoy. We’ll see if he can get the job done come Feb. 19.
