In the wake of the Ben Simmons-James Harden trade, Trae Young’s father knows exactly who caused the chaos.

Is it possible for the biggest winner of the blockbuster Ben Simmons-James Harden trade that the 76res and Nets pulled off on Thursday doesn’t involve any of those actually involved?

According to Trae Young’s father, and in the words of my native Minnesotans, you betcha.

It took almost no time at all for the discourse to begin within the dust cloud that was kicked up by the massive move. It was both the end of one season of drama and backdoor pilot to another. Simmons, despite the hullabaloo all year long, was finally traded. Harden, in a late addition to the drama, successfully forced his way out of another franchise in consecutive seasons. Daryl Morey, who broke the NBA with a James Harden trade back in 2012, finally got his Thanos-Watching-The-Sunset moment of triumph of doing it again.

The real main character, however, is…Trae Young?

Trae Young dad tweet: This Ray Young Trae Young hot take is a true scorcher

Young’s father took to Twitter with a mighty bold claim and a scorching hot take in the wake of the Harden-Simmons blockbuster.

The logic here suggests that because Young and the Hawks ran through the Eastern Conference playoffs last season like a dog chasing a car — bouncing the Knicks and 76ers before running into the Bucks in the Conference Finals — the conference was thrown out of balance.

That’s a ton of credit to heap on a guy who didn’t make it to the NBA Finals, but it’s also not hard to give this an ol’ you know, he kind of has a point nod even if you don’t entirely believe it.
