Micah Parsons on fans who root against the Cowboys: ‘They’re jealous’
By John Buhler
Micah Parsons has some things to say about people who do not like the Dallas Cowboys.
While Micah Parsons was the unanimous NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, his Dallas Cowboys went absolutely nowhere in the postseason.
It is not debatable that the Cowboys are the league’s most popular team. They are known as America’s Team for a reason. Although they get on nationally televised games more than just about any team in the league, there has not been a greater football hype machine than this franchise over the last 25 years. Parsons was not born the last time the Cowboys won the NFC.
As the emerging defensive superstar for America’s Team, here is what Parsons had to say about all those Cowboys haters out there in the world.
“They’re jealous. There’s envy,” said Parsons to Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Regardless of what happens, we’re still a top organization, and people hate it. They hate it. They want their team to be the Cowboys so bad.”
Micah Parsons says all the Dallas Cowboys haters out there are jealous people
While every player coming out in their respective draft would love to go play for an owner who coddles them like Jerry Jones does, if you go to Dallas, you are not going to win a Super Bowl. They may have been dynastic in the early 1990s, but the Bill Clinton Administration was eons ago. The internet was in its formative stages and the NFL only had 28 franchises then. It was that long ago.
The good news for Parsons is he can be a catalyst for change on the Dallas defense. If he really is the second coming of Lawrence Taylor, then that bodes well for the Cowboys for the next decade plus. However, they have been the epitome of overrated since Troy Aikman hung up the spikes. He has been in the FOX booth sitting next to Joe Buck calling games for over a fifth of a century now.
Ultimately, fans and players are not jealous of the Cowboys. They just see them as delusional. The good news is another delusional fanbase saw their fortunes change recently to some degree in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. While the Golden Domers have not won a national title since the Ronald Reagan Administration, at least they made the College Football Playoff twice in four years.
Until the Cowboys can get back to the NFC Championship, they will remain a total hype machine.
