Report: Leonard Fournette to test free agency this offseason
With NFL free agency right around the corner, it’s looking like running back Leonard Fournette is ready to see what kind of attention he can attract.
Where will veteran running back Leonard Fournette be playing next season? Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans have been hopeful that Fournette would be sticking around with the organization for the long haul.
However, it’s looking like the team will now face some competition to keep his services. According to FanSided’s Matt Lombardo, Fournette is expected to see what’s out there in free agency in March. Could he end up signing with a new team?
Leonard Fournette should receive several offers in NFL free agency
After a tough split with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Fournette made his way to Tampa Bay last season and instantly won over the fanbase. That’s because ‘Playoff Lenny’ stepped up, with Fournette being outstanding in the Super Bowl win over the Chiefs.
In that victory, Fournette rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown, while adding four receptions for 46 yards. This past season, Fournette carried the ball 180 times for 812 yards and eight scores. Now, though, it’s unknown if he’ll be making plays for Bruce Arians again.
There’s going to be some serious change for this team as a whole. With Tom Brady announcing his retirement, no one knows if Rob Gronkowski will return to the Bucs too. Now, Fournette could be ready to leave town as well. It goes without saying, but losing Brady, Gronk and Fournette would be terrible news for the Bucs.
With Fournette turning 27 in January, he’s still got plenty of good football ahead of him. Once free agency opens, you better believe teams will be racing to try and land his signature. We’ll see if the Bucs can convince him to stay or not.
