Did The Rock play in the NFL?
The Rock helped kick off Super Bowl 56 between the Rams and Bengals but that left fans wondering if the actor ever played in the NFL.
For Super Bowl 56, it was obvious that Los Angeles was going to pull out a lot of stops at SoFi Stadium, particularly with the Rams playing in the big game.
One of the biggest came before the opening kickoff ever transpired. The Rock, a.k.a. Dwayne Johnson, came out as the pseudo-emcee of the game and helped get the crowd hyped up with an introduction for both teams that harkened back to his days in WWE.
With that said, the appearance from The Rock led many fans (and non-fans) watching Super Bowl 56 were curious about whether or not he ever played in the NFL.
The Rock NFL career
Johnson, as it turns out, did not play in the NFL. He did spend his college football career playing for the Miami Hurricanes, including being a backup defensive tackle for the 1991 team that won the national championship.
Furthermore, he may not have played in the NFL, but he did play professional football. After his time at Miami, he did briefly play in the CFL up in Canada, getting signed by the Calgary Stampeders before getting cut from the practice roster.
After that, his time in WWE began. Now, of course, he’s one of the biggest movie stars and celebrities on the planet. Safe to say, not playing in the NFL worked out just fine for The Rock.
