In an exclusive interview with FanSided, former WWE Champion Big E talked about wrestling Goldberg in a dream match.

WWE Elimination Chamber takes place on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 12:00 p.m. ET, in what is the final premium live event prior to WrestleMania 38. One of the main event matches for the show is Roman Reigns defending his Universal Championship against Hall of Famer, Goldberg. With the match just days away, the internet remembers a potential dream match involving Goldberg.

I spoke with former WWE Champion, Big E, who joined FanSided on behalf of Special Olympics during Super Bowl week, and asked about the potential of wrestling Goldberg in a dream match in the near future.

“Obviously I would love to have a match with Goldberg, especially if it was his last one. Word on the street is this Roman Reigns one might be the last one on his deal. But you know, these things are always in flux, you never really know,” Big E said.

“But the fact that he was my favorite as a kid and I got to actually meet him and get an autograph from him in the 90s when I was a kid, we’re talking about over 20 years ago, is pretty incredible. And yeah, that would be in many ways very full circle for me. So we’ll see, we’ll see.”

Big E talks about potential dream match with Goldberg

Of course, Big E famously spoke about this match on “The New Day: Feel the Power” podcast nearly two years ago, describing the dream match with Goldberg as “big meaty men slapping meat.” The clip went viral across social media and fans have been waiting to see if it will come to fruition.

As Big E alluded to, Goldberg confirmed during an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show” this past December that he has one more match remaining on his current contract.

After this year’s Royal Rumble, Fightful Select reported that Goldberg was set to return “imminently” to WWE, with the belief that he would challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber. That became official on the Feb. 4 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Big E held the WWE Championship entering the Day 1 event on New Year’s Day. After holding the title since this past September, Big E lost the title in a five-way match, with Brock Lesnar defeating him with an F-5. Big E is currently on the SmackDown brand, where is he teaming with New Day tag partner Kofi Kingston.

With his upcoming bout with Reigns taking place at Elimination Chamber, it is unknown if Goldberg will sign a new deal. One can dream that a match with Big E will eventually happen down the line.
