2022 NFL Draft: Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock
Round 1: Devin Lloyd
The Eagles desperately need to add athleticism and playmaking ability to their linebacking group ahead of next season. Lloyd is just the sort of exceptional athlete that NFL teams covet to combat modern NFL offenses.
Lloyd’s collegiate tape shows him to be a really good run defender who excels when given the opportunity to attack the line of scrimmage. He might be a bit too small to play the inside linbacker spot on early downs in the NFL, but he can slot in as a starter on the outside for Philadelphia.
The real appeal to Lloyd is that he projects as a linebacker who can stay on the field for all three downs. He may never be a coverage standout, but being adequate in that department would make him an above-average starter for a long time for the Eagles.
Round 1: Jameson Williams
Having three first-round selections gives Philadelphia the chance to take a least one big swing. Williams’ draft stock is in question after tearing his ACL in the National Championship game. The Eagles can afford to be patient with him even if he’s not ready when training camp opens.
At his best, the former Alabama standout is a No. 1 wideout that can use his blazing speed and evasive moves after the catch to tornment opposing defensive backs. At the very minimum, he can create more space for Jalen Reagor and DeVonta Smith as a vertical threat. That’s worth the roll of the dice for the Eagles’ front office with their last first-round selection.
