Philadelphia Eagles mock draft, Leo Chenal

Round 3: Leo Chenal

Chenal is an old-school middle linebacker prospect who is going to make his living stopping the run at the NFL level. Anyone expecting him to suddenly blossom into a high-level coverage guy is going to be disappointing. The former Wisconsin star should only be deployed to dominate the middle of the field on early downs.

The good news is that he can do that job at a high level. The Eagles can use some physicality in the middle of their linebacking corps. Chenal may never turn into a star, but his ability to stop the run at an elite level as a rookie makes him a good pick in the third round.

Round 4: Bryan Cook

Safety isn’t the most valued position in the modern NFL, but the Eagles need to add some quality depth to the back line of their secondary. Cook’s a high-quality tackler who has the versatility to play either safety spot before settling into one role as a starter down the line.

Cook’s lack of experience might cause him some struggles early on in his rookie campaign, but he didn’t give up much in coverage last season for the Bearcats. He’s not a flashy prospect at safety, but he projects as a steady presence in can really help calm things down for Philadelphia in the deep third.
