In an exclusive interview with FanSided, WWE superstar Drew McIntyre spoke about Bron Breakker’s high potential in NXT 2.0.

NXT was once the developmental show for WWE prospects to hone their craft. It then transitioned to the “Black and Gold” brand, featuring top-tier wrestling matches for diehard fans. But last fall, WWE hit the reset button on the brand once again, with it now being dubbed NXT 2.0, placing a focus on young talent and the development of on-screen characters.

I spoke exclusively with WWE superstar and former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, who joined FanSided on behalf of Special Olympics during Super Bowl week, and asked him which NXT 2.0 wrestlers he thought can be stars on Raw and SmackDown in the future.

McIntyre says that he sees 8-to-10 people who can reach that level. One name that he brought up was current NXT Champion Bron Breakker.

“Everybody can see clear as day that Bron Breakker’s got the pedigree, is ahead of where he should be. Looks the part, is the part, has got the intensity,” said McIntyre. “The key for him being so young is like myself when I was so young, is just keeping the feet on the ground and just keeping perspective. But with his family lineage, he’s going to be good. I’ve met him a few times, he’s a good lad.”

Breakker is the son of former multiple-time tag team champion Rick Steiner. His uncle is former WCW Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner, aka “Big Poppa Pump.”

Prior to joining WWE, Breakker played college football for the Kennesaw State as a full back. In 2020, he signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. He was released later that summer, where he then began his professional wrestling career.

Breakker participated in the very first match of NXT 2.0 on Sept. 14, 2021, where he defeated L.A. Knight. Becoming one of the revamped brand’s newest stars, Breakker challenged then-NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa to a title match at NXT Halloween Havoc, which he was unsuccessful. At NXT WarGames, Breakker gave the win for Team 2.0 (Carmelo Hayes, Tony D’Angelo and Grayson Waller) over Team Black and Gold (Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, L.A. Knight and Pete Dunne) after pinning Ciampa in the WarGames match.

At New Year’s Evil on Jan. 4, 2022, Breakker officially reached the mountain top by defeating Ciampa for the NXT Championship, cementing himself as the face of the brand.

Breakker recently defended his NXT Championship against Santos Escobar on the Vengeance Day special on Feb. 15.
