New contract secured last offseason, Dak Prescott is the face of the Dallas Cowboys. And the quarterback wants to be included in offseason plans in 2022 and beyond.

The word around the Dallas Cowboys always seemed to be that Dak Prescott was their franchise quarterback and they were committed to him being the team’s leader for the long haul. It just took Jerry Jones and the front office a while to show that in the way of a contract, which the quarterback finally signed last offseason.

Now locked up under a lucrative deal, Prescott wants to be more than the face of the organization; he also wants to be a voice helping to guide the ship behind closed doors as well.

Speaking with Jori Epstein of USA Today, Prescott noted that he would like to have input in the Cowboys’ offseason plans and that he wants his voice to be heard about the direction the team is going in Dallas.

“I think that just depends on whether they ask me,” Prescott said. “I’m not going in and knocking on doors saying, ‘Hey, I want this done, I want that done.’ But I’m pretty sure that my opinion will be valued in certain decisions, as I hope. So with that being said, just plan on helping this team get better in every which way I can.”

Cowboys: Dak Prescott wants to be included in offseason decisions

Though Prescott is not a member of the front office, it does stand to reason why he’d want to have his voice heard in the room and, just as importantly, it also makes sense that the Cowboys would want his input as well.

Dallas has big decisions to make this offseason regarding a slew of free agents that includes Michael Gallup and Randy Gregory, among others, that could leave this offseason. There is also the matter of what the team does with Amari Cooper, who could potentially be cut prior to the 2022 season to save money on the salary cap.

With what he’s shown on the field and everything in-between, the Cowboys believe that Dak Prescott is the quarterback that can lead them back to Super Bowl glory. And it seems that he believes that he can help put himself and the team in the best possibility to achieve that.

In any regard, though, the Cowboys will be one of the most fascinating teams in the NFL to watch this offseason.
