Phil Foden is among the best wingers in the Premier League, but the Manchester City star was involved in a brawl at Saturday’s boxing match between Amir Khan and Kell Brook.

Manchester City is standing behind Foden after it looked as though he and his family were harassed at the event, leading to the star winger getting involved in the first place.

Foden and Co. attended the Saturday night boxing match between Amir Khan and Kell Brook, but matters took an ugly turn during an altercation between Foden’s family and a group of men in one of the stadium hallways.

The video, linked here, appears to show Foden getting physically involved with the men.

Manchester City have Phil Foden’s back after incident

“The club is aware of a video which has circulated on social media showing Phil Foden and his family being harassed and abused,” City said in a statement Sunday. “We are shocked and appalled about the nature of the abuse and ensuing assault on one of Phil’s family members. We will continue to give Phil and his family all the support and assistance they need.”

Various reports suggest Foden’s mother was the party originally assaulted, thus prompting Foden to intervene.

Greater Manchester Police also released a statement, saying they were aware of the incident.

“GMP are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a disturbance at the AO arena last night,” the police said. “We are conducting some further enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Foden and City lost to Tottenham their last time out. Manchester City still have a six-point lead in the title race, with Liverpool in second place with one less game played.
