2022 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions 7-round mock

Detroit Lions Mock Draft – Third Round
Bailey Zappe may have only spent one year at Western Kentucky, but he left an indelible impact on the Hilltoppers. He followed former Houston Baptist offensive coordinator Zach Kittley to Bowling Green and became a record-setting collegiate passer in the process. During his one season at Western Kentucky, Zappe threw for well over 60 touchdowns and nearly 6,000 passing yards.
A system quarterback, maybe, but Zappe seems to be that one mid-round quarterback prospect every year that comes out where everyone says to keep an eye on. He should not start over Goff as a rookie, but if Goff goes down, maybe he can be what Davis Mills was for the Houston Texans when Tyrod Taylor suffered an injury? Look for Mark Brunell to help develop his new quarterback.
With the Lions’ second pick of the third round, it would make sense for them to use it on an accomplished offensive guard from Big 12 country. Marquis Hayes has the potential to come in and be an immediate impact player, especially if he is playing alongside Penei Sewell in the trenches. Here is why playing for Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma has set him up for success in the NFL.
Though Riley runs the Air Raid, he has never been afraid to be physical by pounding the rock. While the Sooners always had a Heisman-level quarterback under his watch, they usually had a bell-cow back as well. In short, not that many program are as well equipped at generating offensive lineman for the next level quite like Oklahoma. Look for Hayes to be a quality starter in the league.
Detroit Lions Mock Draft – Fourth Round
The Lions do not have a fourth-round pick this year, as this one belongs to the Cleveland Browns in a pick swap of sorts.
