While the Los Angeles Lakers are in the middle of a disappointing campaign, it doesn’t look like Rob Pelinka will be fired anytime soon.

With the All-Star Game festivities in the rearview mirror, it’s back to business for the Los Angeles Lakers. Entering Saturday’s upcoming tilt with the LA Clippers, the Lakers are 27-31 on the year and in ninth place of the Western Conference standings.

For the team to be four games under .500 is unacceptable and fans are not happy with general manager Rob Pelinka. Their anger only increased when the Lakers failed to make a splash ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline. So, is Pelinka’s seat getting hot right now?

Rob Pelinka’s job with the Lakers is safe for now

According to Marc Stein, Pelinka’s job doesn’t appear to be in jeopardy despite LA’s struggles. Per Stein, Pelinka continues to have the ‘unwavering support’ of Lakers owner Jeanie Buss. That’s obviously great news for him.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that Lakers nation isn’t too happy with Pelinka. They’ve been calling for him to be fired for a while now and those chants will only get louder if the Lakers continue to underperform.

With the second half of the season here, this team needs to step its game up and start winning some games. If the unthinkable happens and the Lakers miss out on the playoffs, then people will be calling left and right for Pelinka to be canned.

This LA roster is simply too good and too deep for this squad to be playing this way. It’s got to be frustrating for LeBron James too, as he was hoping to push for another NBA Finals title this season. Thus far, things have gone the complete opposite of what the Lakers thought would happen in 2021-22.
