NBA insider says Dennis Schröder probably won’t hit the buyout market

NBA insider Marc Stein reports that Dennis Schröder is expected to remain with the Houston Rockets, meaning he won’t hit the buyout market this March. 

The 2022 NBA trade deadline was a sight to behold, with premier talent being swapped across the league as if each change wasn’t transformational. The Celtics participated in that profound movement, shipping Dennis Schröder to the Houston Rockets rather than his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

With Schröder on the Rockets, the team could put him on the buyout market and pursue other free agents, but the Rockets have made it clear that they plan on keeping Schröder for the remainder of his initial one-year, $5.9 million deal with the Celtics.

All that resulted in Schröder signing a cheap deal with the Celtics, who eventually traded him away come February. Now with the Rockets, the 28-year-old point guard is quickly becoming a leader in the Rockets locker room.

The Rockets are still ranked No. 15 in the Western Conference with only 15 wins this season, but Schröder is quickly making an impact. So far, he is averaging 12.0 points, 4 rebounds and 7.7 assists in 29 minutes.
