The photographers of Getty Images did a fantastic job of capturing the Winter Olympics from every angle — the highs and the lows, the biggest moments and all the ones we missed while we were watching along on television.
Their staff has already shared some of their favorite images and stories from the first and second weeks of the Winter Olympics. Maxx Wolfson, Director of Sports Photography for Getty Images helped explain just what their team was after and what they accomplished over the last few weeks.
"“The Olympic Games are truly a special time in sports. It’s incredible to see the world’s best athletes come together to compete for two straight weeks of competition, as well as witness iconic moments in sports history, terrible upsets and utter pride and joy when competing and as athletes take the podium. The Olympic spirit is unmatched and at Getty Images we are honored to be part of capturing this all. Beyond peak action, the beauty of sport is embodied by the pure emotion that athletes and teams display throughout competition. Our industry-leading team looks to document these moments to help tell that story and showcase what athletes are feeling in these moments to fans at home. The Olympic Winter Games in Beijing did not disappoint and the images produced are a testament to the hard work and dedication of these best-in-class athletes, as well as our team on the ground in Beijing and working remotely around the world”"
