The market for safeties in 2022 NFL free agency is looking pretty good with several exceptional defenders likely to be available.

Teams looking for safeties in free agency this year should have plenty of options to consider.

Some like Marcus Maye are coming off concerning injuries. Others like Devin McCourty are aging.

However, strong options aren’t hard to find at all.

The 5 best safeties in NFL free agency for 2022

5. Quandre Diggs

Quandre Diggs really came into his own after being traded from the Lions to the Seahawks in 2019. He made the Pro Bowl in 2020 and earned a second nod with an even more impressive season in 2021.

Diggs has had five interceptions in each of the last two seasons with 17 total pass breakups. He had 94 tackles in 2021 while also getting on the board with a tackle for loss.

The trouble for Diggs is he’s coming off a broken fibula and sprained ankle in the final game of the season. He’ll have to answer questions about his current injury status but he’ll also be able to point to his stellar injury record before this one. It shouldn’t be a barrier to him getting plenty of attention from prospective teams.
