The Miami Dolphins are apparently distancing themselves from Deshaun Watson and remain committed to Tua Tagovailoa going into the 2022-2023 season.

While there has long been some speculation around the thought that the Miami Dolphins might be interested in moving on from Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback, Miami has apparently ruled out the possibility of seeking out one possible replacement.

According to a tweet from Cameron Wolfe, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier openly stated that Miami has eliminated the possibility of seeking out Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

In the same statement, Grier also announced that Miami is committing itself to Tagovailoa as the young quarterback heads into his third season in the NFL.

That’s huge for the folks in Miami.

Miami Dolphins commit to Tua Tagovailoa and shut down possibility of Deshaun Watson

Tagovailoa has a lot of potential and he’s still young. There’s a chance that he can improve. While many have already written him off for one reason or another, it’s worth acknowledging how there is still plenty of time for the young Dolphins quarterback to continue developing.

That’s especially true if Miami is willing and able to bring in some talented pieces to help improve the team around him.

The scandal surrounding Watson is pretty sizable and is very significant. It’s definitely something that has caused many teams to rightfully pause and examine the situation before making any major trades that would bring him in to join their roster.

The fact that Miami has officially committed to remaining away from engaging in a trade with the Texans for Watson is really big.

They’re sticking with their young and relatively unproven and inexperienced quarterback over one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league. But with the very significant controversy that is attached to Watson, avoiding a trade for him is a wise move for the Dolphins to make.
