The Steelers cannot reasonably expect to stand pat and land Willis at 20. If Pittsburgh wants to secure the most talented signal-caller in this year’s draft class they’re going to need to make a significant move up into the top-10.

Willis’ bust potential makes such a transaction a risky proposition for Pittsburgh. His lack of accuracy with the football this season is a massive red flag for scouts. He has the most arm talent in the class, but it’s not going to matter if he can’t dramatically improve his consistency.

With that being said, the potential upside as a top-10 quarterback in the league is too much to ignore. He throws the ball with elite strength and velocity and he is not afraid to push the ball down the field. Willis will never lead the league in completion percentage but the idea that he can produce big plays at a prolific level with Pittsburgh’s talented receiving corps is why they’ll consider moving up to nab him.

The Steelers have spent extensive time scouting Willis that’s not a smokescreen. He’s a serious consideration for the franchise as they look to acquire Roethlisberger’s successor.
