If Aaron Rodgers is not playing for the Green Bay Packers next season, it might be for the Denver Broncos.

Of the three teams Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk listed as possible trade destinations for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Denver Broncos have to be the presumptive favorite to land him if he is indeed made available for trade.

Denver has several things going for it. With the right quarterback, the Broncos could become the 2022 version of the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Even if they come up short of a Super Bowl victory, Broncos Country is a rabid fanbase that has been deprived of a winner for some time. Of course, Rodgers’ former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is the new head coach in Denver.

While the Broncos should be seen as the favorites to trade for Rodgers should he become available, what would a return package look like for Green Bay?

Aaron Rodgers rumors: What would a trade package from Broncos look like?

A big advantage the Broncos have over the likes of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans in dealing for Rodgers is they have the far better pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. There is tremendous value in the No. 9 overall selection this spring, so that is going to the Packers in a deal for Rodgers, as well as next year’s first-round pick. The question is if those two picks are enough.

Because Denver would be playoff viable upon Rodgers’ arrival, that 2023 first-round pick coming from the Broncos would be far worse than the top-10 selection for 2022. Since the Broncos’ first-round pick this year (No. 9) is better than that of the Steelers (No. 20) and the Titans (No. 25), Denver may not have to give upwards of three first-round picks to pry Rodgers out of Green Bay.

While three first-round picks from the Broncos would get Rodgers to Denver, they may not have to give up the 2024 first-rounder because this year’s pick is so valuable. A day-two pick in 2024 may suffice the Packers’ trade demands if they want to make a deal with Denver. Though a former NFC North division rival is running the front office, one of their own is the team’s new head coach.
