Checking out the Arnold Palmer Invitational purse and looking at the payout for every finishing position and players who made the cut.

Through the first two days of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, it seemed like we might get some flirtation with scoring records. Viktor Hovland had the lead at 9-under par and was trending towards a low, low score. Then the weekend came.

With the greens baking out and the winds picking up, Bay Hill showed every tooth that it has — which is saying something with the narrow fairways and water all over the property — and the scores reflected as much.

That was all setting up for an exciting finish on Sunday with a slew of players well within striking distance with the way the course and the conditions were dictating things. In the end, it was Scottie Scheffler who withstood the elements and emerged with a one-shot victory, the second of his PGA Tour career after just earning his first a few weeks ago.

As an elevated field, the golfers in the field were vying for their share of a massive $12 million purse. But how does that break down by finishing position? Let’s take a look.

$2.16 million going to the winner makes this an extremely rich payday. And whoever wins will earn every cent of that, though, with the way the tournament played out over the final 36 holes.

Even with a great field and leaderboard, the conditions saw first-round leader Rory McIlroy slowly slip as the weekend went on due to the difficulty — and he was far from alone. But as we head into THE PLAYERS Championship and then the start of major championship season, it’s a ton of fun for golf fans to see this type of test.
