Ian Rapoport dropped a major breaking news piece on Aaron Rodgers, but Pat McAfee wasted no time in calling out the report.

Green Bay Packers fans are catching their breath on Tuesday afternoon, as insider Ian Rapoport has broken some major news: Aaron Rodgers is returning to Green Bay. Not only that, Rodgers, per Rapoport, will sign a four-year deal worth $200 million.

While people in Wisconsin are jacked up over this, perhaps we need to hold the phone a bit. That’s because Pat McAfee took to Twitter to say that Rapoport’s story is false.

Aaron Rodgers contract makes him the highest-paid player in history

If you ask McAfee, Rodgers and the Packers haven’t finalized anything just yet. Rapoport is one of the most trustworthy reporters out there. Who in the world should people believe? What makes things interesting in this case is that McAfee and Rodgers are great friends.

Rodgers is a regular on The Pat McAfee Show. Perhaps McAfee is just a little bummed that Rodgers didn’t break the news himself live on the show, as hundreds of thousands of people have been watching live in recent weeks.

If Rapoport’s sources are on the money, then Rodgers’ contract will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history. Few can argue he deserves that honor, as the future Hall-of-Fame signal-caller has taken home MVP honors in back-to-back seasons.

For his career, Rodgers has won MVP four times, and helped the Packers win one Super Bowl. Now that he, per Rapoport, will be around for four more years, the hope is he can bring at least one more Lombardi Trophy back to Lambeau Field. There’s sure to be more on this developing story coming soon. Packers nation wants answers after seeing McAfee’s tweet.
