Now that Russell Wilson has been dealt by the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos, these are the best quarterbacks available after the earth-shattering blockbuster trade.

Russell Wilson being traded to the Denver Broncos by the Seattle Seahawks sent shockwaves throughout the NFL on the finest of Tuesday afternoons.

Denver went from being one of the most quarterback-needy teams in the league to being set for the next decade or so with Wilson taking over the reins in Broncos Country. As for the Seahawks, they just traded away their greatest quarterback in franchise history. Dark days may be ahead for the NFL’s lone Pacific Northwest franchise. They now join the ranks of quarterbacking uncertainty.

So if your favorite team is in need of a starting quarterback, here are some of the best potentially available for trade, on the free agent market or available in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Best quarterbacks available for trade after Russell Wilson blockbuster

  1. Jimmy Garoppolo (San Francisco 49ers)
  2. Ryan Tannehill (Tennessee Titans)
  3. Carson Wentz (Indianapolis Colts)
  4. Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns)
  5. Sam Darnold (Carolina Panthers)

Jimmy Garoppolo is the best quarterback potentially available for trade, as the San Francisco 49ers are planning to start Trey Lance under center next year. Ryan Tannehill may be available, as the Tennessee Titans were in the mix to potentially trade for Aaron Rodgers. After that, it is a lot of players like Carson Wentz, Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. Caveat emptor if you strike a deal.

Best quarterbacks available in free agency after Russell Wilson trade

  1. Marcus Mariota (Las Vegas Raiders)
  2. Jameis Winston (New Orleans Saints)
  3. Teddy Bridgewater (Denver Broncos)
  4. Mitchell Trubisky (Buffalo Bills)
  5. Jacoby Brissett (Miami Dolphins)

While there are some options in NFL free agency, this is the bargain bin of quarterback shopping. Though some may be higher on a player than others, it is a lot of failed former top-two picks. From Marcus Mariota to Jameis Winston to Mitchell Trubisky, these are quarterbacks hoping for one last shot at being a starter. There are also quality stop-gaps in Teddy Bridgewater and Jacoby Brissett.

Best quarterbacks available in 2022 NFL Draft after Russell Wilson trade

  1. Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh Panthers)
  2. Malik Willis (Liberty Flames)
  3. Matt Corral (Ole Miss Rebels)
  4. Sam Howell (North Carolina Tar Heels)
  5. Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati Bearcats)

If a front office does not have the stomach for a trade or is not thrilled with what free agency offers, there is always the NFL Draft. Though this year’s crop of quarterbacks is not elite, at least a few will be going in the first round. Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis are first-round locks. Matt Corral and Sam Howell probably go top-32. Desmond Ridder has an outside shot to make it five in 2022.

Should your team need a quarterback, one of these 15 players could fill those pressing vacancies.
