Russell Wilson trade details: Here’s what Seahawks got back
By John Buhler
Here is what the Seattle Seahawks received by trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.
The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a blockbuster trade that will send Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.
This massive trade came on the heels of Aaron Rodgers announcing he would be returning to the Green Bay Packers. Denver had been in the running to land Rodgers if he wanted to be traded out of town. The Broncos brass acted swiftly by landing another future first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback in Wilson. While Denver is now an AFC contender, Seattle is totally rebuilding.
Here are the trade details in full between the Broncos and the Seahawks.
Russell Wilson trade details: What are the Seahawks getting from the Broncos?
Denver is receiving Wilson and a fourth-round pick in this trade with the Seahawks. Seattle will be receiving two first-round picks (No. 9 overall in 2022 and Denver’s in 2023) two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, quarterback Drew Lock, defensive lineman Shelby Harris and tight end Noah Fant.
Seattle did not have a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after trading for safety Jamal Adams from the New York Jets. The Seahawks were one of the worst teams in the NFC a year ago and did not have possession of their own top-10 pick. While Lock may be getting a fair shot at being a starter now, one would expect the Seahawks will pursue a quarterback in the upcoming draft.
As for Denver, the Broncos go from a non-playoff team to a possible Super Bowl contender in the deep AFC West. This division has four outstanding quarterbacks in it with Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, Derek Carr in Las Vegas, Justin Herbert in Los Angeles and now Wilson in Denver. There are no guarantees that Kansas City will win the division now that the Broncos have Wilson.
With this blockbuster trade, the upper crust of the AFC just got a whole lot more interesting.
