Jameis Winston

Arguably the top quarterback free agent out there is Jameis Winston, who is coming off a season-ending injury with the Saints.

New Orleans may want to re-sign Winston while the Steelers are reportedly in the running as well. Seattle could enter the fray now that they need a new quarterback.

Winston has had definite ups and downs in his career but there aren’t many passers out there who can boast a 5,000-yard season in the last three years. Before his injury in 2021, he was 5-2 with 14 touchdowns and just three interceptions. That interception rate of 1.9 percent was the best of his career and could be a sign that his 30-interceptions-in-a-season days are behind him.

There’s something to work with there even if there is an inherent risk in signing a quarterback coming off a major knee injury whose past lows have been pretty dang low. Then again, the likelihood of Winston being better than Drew Lock is pretty decent.
