Syracuse’s Buddy Boeheim straight-up punched a guy and got away with it [Video]
By Mark Powell
In the ACC Tournament, Syracuse’s Buddy Boeheim punched his Florida State opponent in the chest for no good reason.
Boeheim was a little less subtle than the typical dirty player — say, former Duke guard Grayson Allen — but he got the point across.
The son of Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim thought he could get away with one, but did anything but in the ACC Tournament. Florida State’s Wyatt Wilkes was the victim in this case.
Despite the fairly obvious contact, Boeheim was not called for a foul in the moment. While every game is up for review by the ACC and Boeheim could be suspended at a later date, it’s fairly surprising the officials just missed this one.
Syracuse basketball: Buddy Boeheim takes cheap shot
By no means is Boeheim a scrub, either — he averages 19.3 points per game and leads the Orange in scoring. If Cuse are going to make a deep run in the ACC Tournament, odds are he will largely be responsible.
Syracuse’s only hope to make the NCAA Tournament is to win out, as they are not listed in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update.
Doing so without Boeheim in any games would be debilitating to say the least. With Syracuse having Wednesday’s game in hand, they will advance to face the Duke Blue Devils on Thursday at noon E.T.
