In his first public comments since news of his trade, Russell Wilson posted a short but sweet message to Seahawks fans out there.

It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions for Seattle Seahawks fans over the past 24 hours. As soon as it was reported by Adam Schefter that Russell Wilson had been traded to the Denver Broncos, people were in disbelief.

Now, those same people are quite sad knowing that Wilson won’t be suiting up for the team anymore. That sadness undoubtedly reached a new level once they saw Wilson’s tweet saying goodbye to the city he’s known and loved since 2012.

Russell Wilson will always be a Seattle Seahawks legend

That post from Wilson hits everyone in the feels. It’s hard to believe that his time in the Pacific Northwest has come to an end. People were quite stunned by the trade update, especially since Pete Carroll said recently that Seattle had no plans on trading Wilson.

Schefter said the team had been negotiating with Denver for weeks, which proves Carroll and John Schneider were keeping things under wraps. Despite Wilson’s time with Seattle being over, that doesn’t mean he won’t be remembered forever by fans.

Wilson helped the organization win its first Super Bowl in February of 2014 with the dominant win over the Broncos. Wilson almost powered the team to back-to-back titles, but the loss to New England still stings.

Regardless of that heartbreaking loss, Wilson will go down as the best quarterback in Seahawks history. Wilson, who earned Pro Bowl honors nine times, threw for 37,059 yards and 292 touchdowns, while adding 4,689 rushing yards and 23 additional scores. Wilson is grateful for his time with the team, and Seahawks supporters are quite thankful for everything he was able to accomplish with the team.
