Bobby Wagner was a longtime contributor for the Seattle Seahawks, but that apparently didn’t mean he’d receive a heads up that his time with Seattle was over.

The Seattle Seahawks made the tough decision to release one of the faces of their franchise when they chose to move on from Bobby Wagner. After a decade’s worth of seasons, Seattle decided that it was time to move on from their longtime linebacker.

It’s not unreasonable for the Seahawks to have moved on from Wagner. The 31-year-old linebacker is experienced and talented and probably will be pretty expensive for whichever team he ends up signing with. As the Seahawks try to hit the reset button a bit and make some major changes with their roster, moving on from Wagner is a move that makes sense.

But, it looks like Seattle probably could have done a better job of communicating with Wagner in all of this. According to a tweet from Wagner, Seattle didn’t even give him a heads up that he was going to be let go.

That’s not great.

Seattle Seahawks apparently didn’t tell Bobby Wagner he would be released from team

With this whole situation, the Seahawks are losing a longtime leader. Wagner was a steady presence on Seattle’s defense for the past 10 seasons and he racked up well over 100 combined tackles during each regular season. In his career so far, Wagner has recorded 1,383 combined tackles.

On top of that, he just finished up a season in which he recorded 170 combined tackles, the most Wagner has ever recorded in a regular season.

He’s showing he can still play at a pretty high level, even as he gets older. Whichever team does decide to pay Wagner what he’s worth will get someone who should be able to keep contributing at a high level.
