The Oklahoma basketball team is trying to figure out what’s next for their season. Will the Sooners end up competing in the 2022 NCAA Tournament?

This season’s Oklahoma basketball team has been a bit of a bizarre one. At time, the Sooners seem solid. They’ve been capable of beating the likes of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and have been able to provide some pretty impressive challenges for the blue-bloods in the Big 12.

But does Oklahoma’s resume look good enough for the Sooners to actually make it into the 2022 NCAA Tournament? Will the Sooners be able to compete against the best teams in the country in one of the most thrilling sporting events of the year?

If you asked ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, the Sooners don’t currently have much of a shot at making it into the NCAA Tournament.

According to Lunardi’s bracketology, Oklahoma is currently slated to be on the outside looking in of the NCAA Tournament. At the moment, Lunardi has the Sooners positioned in the “first four out” along with the Virginia Tech Hokies, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and Dayton Flyers.

Oklahoma basketball: Will the Sooners be playing in the 2022 NCAA Tournament?

As with everything college sports-related, there are some arguments to be had about whether or not the Sooners deserve a shot at the 2022 NCAA Tournament. They have shown that they can beat some pretty good foes, but the Sooners have also demonstrated that they can lose and be incredibly inconsistent.

Oklahoma is 18-15 on the season and just recently lost to the Red Raiders in the Big 12 Tournament.

For Oklahoma’s sake, it’s a shame the Sooners didn’t spend more time surviving and advancing and building its resume in the conference tournament. Some more time there may have been enough to get some more respect.
