The New York Yankees have been stagnant this offseason and it’s beginning to look like they could run it back with a flawed team again.

Wiggle your fingers, New York Yankees. You may have lost some sensation in your hands from all of the sitting on them you’ve been doing.

Fans are eager to see the team do something, anything at all. While the New York Mets continue to make moves and the rest of the league is making trades or picking up free agents, the Yankees aren’t doing much at all.

Worst of all for fans hoping to see something new, the team may be about to run it back with a flawed team.

Are the Yankees about to give us another year of a flawed team?

Courtesy of Bryan Hoch, a piece of Yankees news most fans don’t want to swallow came in with regards to their outfield and the possible return of a guy the team just can’t quit:

Of course, Aaron Boone can’t directly rule out anything considering his job isn’t to build the roster but to manage it from the field.

But that’s not the point. Brett Gardner remains available in free agency. And as the Yankees have done over and over again, reuniting with him is becoming an annual event fans don’t throw a party for.

Although the Yankees have been linked to numerous free agents and been rumored to have engaged in trade talks, nothing major has happened. They have unanswered questions for the 2022 roster. Headlining them are the questions at shortstop and first base. Do they sign Carlos Correa? Or do they bring in Freddie Freeman or even make a trade for Matt Olson of the Oakland Athletics? Why not do the most Yankees thing possible and go for broke at both positions?

A frustration for many fans has been the club’s focus on adding power. Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton haven’t turned into the powerful duo the team had hoped when they first paired them up. We can blame injuries and some shortcomings in the playoffs for this. With Joey Gallo also on the roster with his immense power yet flawed game when it comes to other aspects, it’s not exactly shocking for fans to start losing faith in the front office.

You’ve heard it plenty of times throughout your life. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. By the look of it, the Yankees are planning to bounce out of the playoffs early unless they get up and do something.
