The Kansas City Chiefs already have an elite offense, but they are reportedly looking to add free-agent receiver Allen Robinson to their mix.

Four years ago, the Kansas City Chiefs chose Sammy Watkins over Allen Robinson.

They might not be passing up Robinson twice.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Chiefs are one of the tamest interested in signing the 28-year-old wide receiver, who has hit free agency for the second time in his career. Robinson is on the market after spending the previous four seasons with the Chicago Bears, where he put up seasons of 1,147 and 1,250 yards in 2019 and ’20, respectively.

However, Robinson had a down year in 2021, catching 38 passes for 410 yards and one touchdowns, easily the worst campaign of his career save for 2017, when he missed all but one game with a torn ACL.

Still, Robinson has immense value. And for a team like the Chiefs, whoa re coming off a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game, he could be the difference in winning a Super Bowl or not.

In Kansas City’s offense, he would be the third option behind superstar receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce, who are both coming off Pro Bowl years. According to league sources, Hill is also in the midst of earning a contract extension with the Chiefs, so with Robinson in the mix on a long-term deal, Kansas City would have a trio of dominant weapons locked in for years.

For Robinson, Patrick Mahomes has to be the main draw. Mahomes is arguably the best quarterback in football, a stark change from the quarterback play Robinson has dealt with in his career. This includes Blake Bortles, Mitchell Trubisky, Nick Foles and Andy Dalton.

With NFL Free Agency only hours old, Robinson has plenty of time to make a decision. It appears the Chiefs, though, will be heavily involved.
