Massive breaking news arrived with Matt Olson being traded to the Atlanta Braves, which has closed the door on Freddie Freeman returning to the club.

If you thought NFL free agency was wild, the action for MLB since the lockout ended has been pretty darn insane too. Things reached a new level on Monday afternoon, with ESPN’s Jeff Passan reporting that first baseman Matt Olson has been traded to Atlanta. Goodness.

While this is a huge addition for the Braves, this also means that the door has been shut on fellow first baseman and Atlanta fan favorite Freddie Freeman returning to the club. So, what’s next for Freeman?

Freddie Freeman signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers is something to watch

Late last week, it was reported that the LA Dodgers had strong interest in signing Freeman, with the veteran also eyeing a move to the NL West. The Dodgers are currently the favorites to win the World Series next season, but Atlanta’s odds are no question going to skyrocket with this Olson news.

How could the Dodgers counter the massive trade? Well, signing Freeman would be a huge haul in itself. MLB fans should find out soon enough where Freeman will ink, but the Dodgers will most definitely be a team to watch.
