Breaking down THE PLAYERS Championship payout this week at TPC Sawgrass with the massive purse and prize money for the golfers.

There’s a reason that virtually every top golfer in the world has no problem playing at THE PLAYERS Championship. Sure, the event at TPC Sawgrass offers a ton of prestige, but it also offers an immense amount of money — the biggest purse on the PGA Tour, to be specific.

With a purse of $20 million and $3.6 million going to the winner as part of THE PLAYERS Championship payout, the richest event on the PGA Tour obviously always attracts great attention from both the players and fans.

The 2022 edition of the tournament, however, has been anything but normal. With Round 1 not even being completed until Saturday due to torrential rains and then wind wreaking havoc on the players and led to some big, big numbers. With all the money on the line this week, it was a whirlwind event.

That led to a Sunday finish with a ton of players in the mix, including some big names like Cameron Smith, Viktor Hovland and many more. But how will all this money be doled out? Let’s take a look at the payout by position at THE PLAYERS.

Whenever the last place to make the cut is making north of $40K and the first three finishing positions all pay out over $1 million, you know that there is massive money on the line.

Throw in the fact that these players have to face the island 17th green and a tough test on the 18th hole to secure the bag at TPC Sawgrass, it’s no wonder that THE PLAYERS Championship is consistently one of the best tournaments of the year.
