The Cowboys lost Randy Gregory to the Broncos but they could find an exciting replacement with Von Miller interested in heading to Dallas.

Everything the Cowboys do this offseason will be focused on finally getting back to the Super Bowl. But sometimes things don’t go as planned.

That’s what apparently happened with pass rusher Randy Gregory, who looked likely to re-sign with Dallas only to head for Denver instead.

After suffering that free agency blow, the Cowboys could make an even bigger splash if reporting on Super Bowl-winner Von Miller holds true.

Cowboys rumors: Von Miller has ‘strong interest’ in Dallas

“Whiff on Randy Gregory but I’m told there is a very strong interest on Von Miller’s part in coming to Dallas,” Jane Slater of NFL Network tweeted on Tuesday. “Got a home very close to the facility.”

So Miller is clearly looking at the Cowboys, but are they looking at him?

Dallas is “doing due diligence,” according to Slater’s source.

Miller is on the wrong side of 30 but he’s an eight-time Pro Bowler and he just helped a second team win a Super Bowl after being traded to the Rams. He’s a proven winner and locker room leader. There’s little doubt he’d elevate the Cowboys defense if they got the deal done.

Gregory is going to make $14 million per year with the Broncos. Dallas was apparently ready to give him a contract in that range. However, they angered the player by trying to tinker with the details of the contract at the last minute and lost him as a result.

Miller’s next contract should be similar to what Gregory is set to make, so the Cowboys can turn around and make some lemonade out of these lemons. Signing Miller would definitely make it up to the fans and could make losing Gregory a blessing in disguise. Pairing him with DeMarcus Lawrence, who just signed a new contract, and Micah Parson could make the Dallas defense a sight to behold.
