The Indianapolis Colts are sitting back and waiting on Deshaun Watson’s decision. While they are happy that he is getting out of the AFC South once and for all, they need to be prepared to be part of a potential three-team deal or another trade as part of the fallout. They are a trade destination for quarterbacks such as Mayfield, Ryan, Jimmy Garoppolo and quite possibly, Gardner Minshew.

Though the Colts might be a preferred trade destination for Mayfield, keep in mind that they play in the same conference as the Browns. Since Indianapolis is essentially a quarterback away from winning the AFC South, trading Mayfield over to the Colts could create a potential roadblock for them if both teams were to make the playoffs. The drama would be amazing, but it is not likely.

Ultimately, the Colts would have to blow the Browns out of the water with an incredible trade offer for Mayfield. In all honesty, they are not going to do that, especially after how tumultuous it has been for them under center for years. Since the Carson Wentz trade blew up in their face, look for the Colts to be more in line to trade for a more seasoned professional like Ryan or Garoppolo.

Mayfield may like the Colts quite a lot, but the Colts probably do not feel the same way about him.
