Deshaun Watson has chosen the Cleveland Browns as his preferred trade destination. Safe to say no one in the NFL saw this coming.
Watson will be a Cleveland Brown, at some point.
This comes despite the fact the Browns were reportedly ruled out by Watson’s camp as recently as Thursday afternoon. Such bad news wasn’t received well by the Browns organization, or Baker Mayfield when the team tried to coerce the bad relationship that’s formed in recent weeks.
Mayfield still wants out of Cleveland, and that’s much easier to do now that the Browns will have Watson in tow. With the addition of Watson, the Browns now have a quarterback solid enough to win the AFC North. He’ll have the contract to match.

The fan reaction was mostly shock. Despite the fact that the Browns have a solid all-around football team, they’re still associated with futility. For a star quarterback to voluntarily choose that organization above all others will take some getting used to.

Given his reaction to the news — an instagram post expressing excitement and him in a Browns uniform — it is a very real concept.
