Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster’s contract with the Kansas City Chiefs is less than what is reported, per Pro Football Talk.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw the rest of the AFC West get tougher and tougher by the day at the start of the 2022 league year. The organization decided to give quarterback Patrick Mahomes another receiver to target in JuJu Smith-Schuster, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was reported being a one-year, $10.75 million contract.

But according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the contract is actually worth $3.25 million, with $2.49 being fully guaranteed at signing. Additionally, Smith-Schuster can earn $7.5 million in incentives.

Florio writes that Smith-Schuster receives a $1.455 million signing bonus, a fully guaranteed base salary of $1.035 million, a $250,000 workout bonus and per-game roster bonuses of $30,000. He did not have full details of the incentive package for Smith-Schuster.  but did say that at least $2 million of the $7.5 million “hinge on the Chiefs at least getting to the AFC Championship.”

Smith-Schuster is coming off a five-game campaign, where he was knocked out for the remainder of the regular-season due to a shoulder injury. He did, however, return in time for the Steelers’ Wild Card game against, ironically, the Chiefs.

In his five seasons with the Steelers, Smith-Schuster caught 323-of-471 targets for 3,855 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Regardless of the deal, Smith-Schuster is a member of the Chiefs for the 2022 season, where he will lineup alongside Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and Travis Kelce to catch passes from Mahomes in what is going to be an extremely competitive AFC.
