Future Hall-of-Famer Albert Pujols is back with the St. Louis Cardinals, but old tweets bashing him sure doesn’t look great.

In one of the best stories of the offseason, Albert Pujols is heading home. Late Sunday night, news broke that the veteran slugger had agreed to terms on a new deal with the St. Louis Cardinals reuniting him with Yadier Molina and others.

Cards fans are jacked up, as they love the thought of Pujols potentially closing out his career with the team. However, some old tweets from when Pujols left the club in 2012 have resurfaced and it’s really a bad look for everyone involved.

Albert Pujols won two World Series rings with the St. Louis Cardinals

After the 2011 season, in which he helped the Cardinals win his second World Series with the team, Pujols left town to sign with the Angels. He landed a massive contract and Cards fans were furious with his decision. The tweets below have reminded everyone of just how upset the St. Louis faithful was.

So, not only were Cardinals fans incredibly angry with Pujols, but plenty of people were hoping that he’d tear his ACL while with the Angels. That’s not good whatsoever. The fact that these tweets haven’t been deleted is surprising in itself.

Now, though, these same haters might be ready to rethink things more than 10 years later now that Pujols is back with the club. He’ll always be a legend in St. Louis, as in addition to helping the club win two World Series, Pujols also won three NL MVPs. He may be near the end of his career, but he’s got the chance to end things the right way with St. Louis.
